If you have been feeling alone in the last few days, no matter how hard you try, you can’t connect with others or even more so if you are with other people you feel like you are not welcomed and as a result, you feel alone and rejected by society.
PHRASE: “You can be the one who forges change OR you can choose to be liked by everyone, but you can’t do both”
We live in a society where we all like to be liked by people, not only that, creating a circle of close friends for many is part of our survival, there are even studies that support the idea that having friends helps prolong life and even lower the risk of heart problems.
PHRASE: Every visionary was once ridiculed before being revered
I feel that this is a time of transition for many of us which causes us to feel out of place like we don’t connect with others and are isolated. This is a time when instead of feeling sorry for ourselves because maybe the friends we had before don’t welcome us the same way, or maybe it’s as easy for us to “make friends” or join social groups as before, it’s important to see this time as an opportunity to dedicate time to ourselves and do what we’ve always wanted to do but for some reason, we haven’t done.
If this is your case, I have some things you should consider
Treat this time as a season:
Everything is cyclical, nothing lasts forever, and everything comes to an end, so when friends reappear, whether they’re old or new, make sure that you’ve made the most of this time that you’ve spent alone and have dedicated it to yourself and your needs.
Learn to surf the waves
Imagine that you’re at the beach, and the waves come. What’s your instinct? – Do you jump, or do you resist them until you fall down? Use this analogy to handle this cycle of your life in a better way. If the current is in your favor, use it and when it is not, focus on yourself. When you feel that everyone is turning their back on you and that all the doors are closed, there is a message, right? It is time to focus on yourself
Focus on yourself
Take advantage of this time that you have “alone” to do introspection and analyze what you want for your life. If you are on the path you want to be, do you have to make any changes? What are these changes? And take action against them.
Some benefits of introspection:
Self-knowledge:
Improve your self-esteem. …
Better social skills. …
Maintain a more open mind. …
Positive attitude. …
Define yourself. …
Make better decisions.
Develop conviction
There are countless benefits when you focus all your energy on yourself.
Leadership is a lonely sport:
Anytime you have innovative ideas – you will be judged by them, and you will be misunderstood by others for your ideas. And remember, people ridicule what they don’t understand. Furthermore, people fear what they don’t understand. And because they don’t understand it, they reject it. The reality is, you can decide to be like everyone else and do everything everyone else does to fit in, but, if you want to have the results that only 5% of the population has, you have to act like that 5%. Oh, and when you start to go outside the norm, to do things that others don’t understand, you will be blamed, and accused of being eccentric, and weird, but, don’t let this bother you in the least. It’s okay to be weird, in fact, it’s much better to be weird, it gives you the freedom to use your weirdness as an excuse. Most of the impactful people we all know, at some point, felt that they didn’t fit in with the “norms” or with others. And that’s good.
Educate yourself, and learn a new skill:
Of course, the more education you have, the longer the distance between you and others becomes, but I trust that if there are so many people in the world and if you identify with this topic, there must be many more people in the same circumstances, it’s just a matter of identifying them.
The opinions of others only have power over you, if you give it to them!
So enjoy this time you’ve earned by not having distractions, focusing on yourself and your priorities, being a little more selfish, of not always putting others before yourself. It’s a gift, enjoy it. On the other side, when this wave has passed, you’re going to find yourself with a new version of yourself. The most authentic, most secure, least influenced version, that can make firm decisions based on conviction and introspection because you make these decisions from your own personal security that you’ve developed this time that you’ve been your only and best company.
Remember: what makes you different from others is what makes you more authentic.
YOU are very special, we all have a very special job in this world! No one is superfluous in this world.
Protect your authenticity
Protect your eccentricities
Eventually, you will find people who appreciate you and complement you.
Until next time!
